Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8) is the best version of IE to date, and the first version of IE to fully support modern web standards. Previous versions of IE provided only some support for web standards, and designers of web pages were forced to work around these limitations.
This causes an issue where sites that are designed to modern web standards, like USD458's sites, break when viewed with IE 7 or below. IE 8 solves this problem by supporting the standards, but "out of the box" it is setup to be compatible with sites designed for IE 7 and below. Microsoft calls this "Compatibility View."
Using Compatibility View with USD458 websites breaks the design, leading to pages that aren't laid out correctly, and that may not load fully.
The solution is to turn off Compatibility View in IE 8. To do this, choose, "Compatibility View" from the "Page" menu in IE 8. Click to uncheck the box.

Most websites will work with Compatibility View off. For those that require it, you can add them to a list of such sites by choosing ""Compatibility View Settings" from the "Page" menu:

Type the URL of the page into the field next to the "Add" button, then click the "Add" button.

Going to that page in the future will trigger Compatibility View and that page won't break.
Please be careful: if you check "Display all webistes in Compatibility View" when in the settings dialog box, USD458 pages will break again, but "Compatibility View" in the "Page" menu won't be checked. It will appear as it does in the "Compatibility View Disabled" image above. Thus it is possible to turn on "Compatibility View" and not have it show that it is on in the "Page" menu.
You can be certain that you're settings are correct if you can view USD458 pages without difficulty.
